Aritium and Inmarepro digitalise water management at an industrial plant
The project combines upgraded meters with a private LoRaWAN network to monitor water consumption at a factory covering approximately 18 hectares and feed the readings into its control system.

The project
Improving control of an essential production resource
In an industrial plant of this size, water is used at many stages of production. Understanding where it is consumed and how usage changes is essential to managing the facility and identifying inefficiencies.
However, the factory had few measurement points and ageing equipment that could not transmit readings. Inmarepro and Aritium worked together to modernise this infrastructure so the client could track consumption by area and process.
The project needed to add measurement points and automate readings without cabling work that would disrupt factory operations.
The solution
New measurement points integrated into industrial control
Inmarepro replaced the obsolete meters and installed new equipment in critical areas of the plant. This provided more detailed measurements and made water consumption easier to trace.
Aritium added the IoT devices that collect readings and transmit them over a private LoRaWAN network. Wireless communications made it possible to connect the new measurement points without running a data cable network throughout the facility.
The MSE (Management Systems Extender) solution integrates this information directly into the client's control system. The plant team can then view consumption in real time through the industrial tools they already use.
Measurement in the field
Upgraded meters and new measurement points in critical areas.
Private network
Pulse readers and wireless LoRaWAN communications.
Industrial control
MSE integrates the readings into the system the client already uses.
Benefits
More information to manage water consumption
Monitoring consumption by area and process
The plant has more measurement points and accessible readings to analyse water use and identify potential inefficiencies.
Less construction work and a simpler installation
The wireless network reduces cabling work and makes deployment easier in an operating factory.
Monitoring through the client's control system
The data is brought into existing industrial tools and becomes part of the plant's routine monitoring.
Capacity to add new applications
The LoRaWAN infrastructure allows monitoring to be extended and other devices to be connected as new needs arise.
